Constan?a, 12 November 2025 – RenewAcad, the largest network of training centers in the field of renewable energy in South-Eastern Europe, announces that it has obtained accreditation for the GWO Solar Safety Training Standard (S-ST), a new international standard dedicated to safety in the large-scale photovoltaic installations industry.

This standard, developed by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO), provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to identify, control, and reduce the risks associated with working in the photovoltaic sector, as well as to respond appropriately in emergency situations.

“The GWO Solar Safety Training Standard accreditation now enables all companies that install and will install photovoltaic parks in Romania and across Europe to accredit their employees for work carried out at a higher and safer quality level. We will need at least 50,000 employees in the photovoltaic sector, and we are prepared to support this growth through technical courses all over the country,” said Sebastian Enache, Director of RenewAcad.

The GWO Solar Safety Training course is structured into three complementary modules: First Aid Awareness, First Aid, and Safe Solar Work. The First Aid Awareness module provides fundamental first aid knowledge in case of medical emergencies, equivalent to the “lifesaving first aid” component of the full First Aid module, and is designed as an intensive half-day training. The First Aid module extends the training to a full day and includes practical scenarios and applied exercises, covering a wide range of potential medical situations in the solar work environment. The Safe Solar Work module is dedicated to safe working practices in large-scale photovoltaic power plants and includes topics such as fire prevention (Fire Awareness), manual handling of equipment (Manual Handling), and work at height (Work at Height).

In turn, Giorgiana Alexe, RenewAcad Training Center Director, emphasized the importance of this certification for the professional training market in Romania: “Through this accreditation, we strengthen RenewAcad’s commitment to safety and to the professionalization of personnel working in the photovoltaic sector. The GWO Solar Safety Training courses combine theory with practical exercises and real-life scenarios, in a modern and safe environment, offering participants a complete and hands-on experience.”

With this new accreditation, RenewAcad consolidates its position as an internationally recognized training center in the field of professional training for the renewable energy industry, contributing to the development of competences and the promotion of a safety culture in the solar sector.
